The United States has been, for years, providing services and aid to the Palestinians with the help of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). However, considering it as a buying out strategy, Palestinians have lately started a protest against the aids and services provided by US. Palestinians, who were already angered by Trump’s reversal of policy after he addressed Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, commences a protest against the aid services provided by US in retaliation of the same.
Considering the anger of the Palestinians as justified, the White House chose to remain silent about it in the hope that it might soon sink in. Nevertheless, a generally impulsive and outspoken US President, Trump lashed out at the Palestinians by warning them to freeze the aid service.
In his latest tweet, Trump stated that not garnering any “appreciation or respect” from Palestinians despite years of aid investment of about “$300 million” has made it feel as “nothing”. He said, “They don’t even want to negotiate a long overdue peace treaty with Israel, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?”
…peace treaty with Israel. We have taken Jerusalem, the toughest part of the negotiation, off the table, but Israel, for that, would have had to pay more. But with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?

A spokesperson said on the behalf of Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, that “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the state of Palestine and it is not for sale for gold or billions” right after a few hours of Trump’s tweet threatening to cut-off aid to PA.
With his tweet and statement, Trump sent out a wave of anger amongst Palestinians pushing them to speculate against US’ act of goodwill. The message Palestinians received with the freezing of aid services from US after Trump’s tweet has made them believe that the US President was indeed trying to buy in their confidence favoring the Jerusalem decision with the act of goodwill put up by the US.
Suddenly stopping the aid service only on terms of not receiving an acknowledgment in return or a gesture of thankfulness angered Palestinians to a greater extent. Experts from around the world believe that the impulsive decision taken by the US President might have ‘catastrophic’ results such as, increased violence against the Israelis.
